  • Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP): ENPs have specialized training in emergency care, often including the ability to perform minor procedures and provide treatment for minor injuries and illnesses. 

  • Trauma Nurse: Specialized in caring for patients who have suffered major trauma. This often involves additional training in trauma care. 

  • Paediatric Emergency Nurse: Specializes in providing emergency care to children and often requires additional paediatric training. 

  • Mentorship Qualifications: Experienced A&E nurses may undertake mentorship courses to supervise and teach new nurses and nursing students. 

  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD): Ongoing learning and training to maintain and enhance the skills and knowledge needed for A&E nursing. 

  • Resuscitation Training: Includes Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS), crucial for A&E nurses. 

  • Minor Injuries and Illness Qualification: Some nurses in A&E may have specific training in managing minor injuries and illnesses, which can include courses or additional certifications. 

  • Triage Training: Specialized training in assessing and prioritizing patient care on arrival in the A&E department.
